Bio
Artxtyler is a multi-media independent visual artist based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with an associate's degree in applied science in Animation and Game Art from Kalamazoo Valley Community College. While primarily focused on acrylic painting in recent years, Artxtyler's artistic journey spans both traditional and digital mediums, with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop and Illustrator. The work explores a diverse range of subjects, including portraits, nature, and abstract designs.
Artxtyler’s commitment to art took a serious turn in 2021, after years of exploration. Since graduating in the summer of 2018, the Kalamazoo Art Hop has served as avenue for showcasing art. Notably, Artxtyler had the honor of collaborating with Artist of Color, Discover Kalamazoo, and Kalamazoo Public Schools for the "Made for You" mural in 2021. With an enduring fascination for both the history and future of the art world, Artxtyler is constantly seeking new techniques and ideas to create visually compelling works.
Although based in Grand Rapids, much of Artxtyler's work has been exhibited in Kalamazoo and Portage, with pieces displayed in cafes, malls, and at various art events. The goal is to gather a body of work that will one day grace museums and renowned galleries worldwide.
Motivation comes from a deep inner drive — the voice that says, "I can do that" while encountering art in galleries, museums, or public spaces. Inspired by the full spectrum of life—past, present, and future—Artxtyler believes that art is a gift meant to be shared, leaving an impression on others both now and in the years to come. This work shines a light on both the darkness and beauty of the world, highlighting struggles, weaknesses, and strengths in the human experience. Each viewer’s unique perspective adds a layer of meaning to the piece, making every encounter with the artwork personal.
Artxtyler’s creative process varies with each piece, whether it’s painted traditionally on canvas or digitally created on the computer. However, the approach typically begins with lines, followed by the exploration of colors, values, and marks, allowing each work to evolve organically and uniquely.
